Board games are a staple of family fun… neatly storing a board game collection, on the other hand, does not happen without intention. Our board game boxes were broken, smashed, and all shoved onto the top shelf in the girls’ closet. I couldn’t take the chaos anymore & revamped our Board Game Storage with the following DIY Vibes!
I started with this chaotic Board Game Storage situation:
The top shelf in my girls’ closet is a great location for our board games. If the games are too easily accessible to the kids… they get taken out on every whim, poured everywhere, & never put back.
I have a great location for our board game collection. I just need to create a more uniform board game storage system there.
New organizing bins or boxes for each game would be too pricey. The boxes they were in could work.
The goal: To Give the Board Game Collection a more uniform, dare I say “peaceful” look. For the DIY Vibe way to accomplish this goal, que up the Modge Podge & Labels!
Steps to Uniform DIY Board Game Storage:
-
Repair and reinforce any damaged boxes with painters tape
-
Wrap boxes in Craft Wrapping Paper with Modge Podge
-
Design & print labels
I made the labels in Canva & printed them on white cardstock.
My oldest daughter is DIY-blooded, like her momma. As soon as she spotted the modge podge, I had a partner for this project!
I like to have a project to work on when we sit and watch TV, this is perfect for that.
It took multiple sittings to finish covering all the boxes. In order to not waste modge podge covered paint brushes, I just put the brush in a ziploc baggie to use again later.
I always smile inside when I grab a board game!
